Everyday Backups vs Duplicati
If you're running Duplicati and tired of managing your own backend, configuring schedules, and troubleshooting failed jobs — here's what an alternative looks like.
Why People Are Switching
Set it and forget it
Duplicati requires you to configure a storage backend, encryption keys, schedules, and retention policies before your first backup runs. Everyday Backups handles all of that — you pick the folders and click Start.
Storage included
With Duplicati you also pay AWS, Google, Backblaze, etc. for the actual storage. Our subscription bundles encrypted cloud storage with the software. One bill, no surprise S3 charges.
Real support
When something goes wrong with Duplicati, your options are GitHub issues and the community forum. With us, you email a person.

Migrating from Duplicati: Step-by-Step
- 1. Sign up. Create your Everyday Backups account at app.everydaybackups.com/signup. Pick a plan that matches your storage needs (Personal $5.99/mo for one device + 500 GB, Pro $17.50/mo for unlimited devices + 2 TB).
- 2. Export your Duplicati config (optional). If you want a record of what you were backing up, export your Duplicati job configurations. We can't import them directly — the encryption and storage backends are different — but the folder list is useful as a checklist.
- 3. Install the Everyday Backups agent. After signing up, you'll get a personalized installer. Run it on each PC you want to back up. Sign in with the email you used at signup.
- 4. Pick the same folders you had in Duplicati. Tick the folders to back up. We recommend Documents, Desktop, and any custom data folders (QuickBooks files, Outlook PSTs, project directories).
- 5. Schedule and start. Pick a nightly time and click Start. Your first backup will scan everything and upload encrypted blocks to our cloud. Subsequent runs are incremental and much faster.
- 6. Keep Duplicati running for a week. We recommend leaving your old Duplicati job active for 7 days while you confirm Everyday Backups is running cleanly. Once you've seen 3-4 successful nightly runs in our dashboard, you can disable Duplicati.
- 7. Cancel your old cloud-storage bill. If Duplicati was writing to S3, B2, or similar — cancel that subscription. Our pricing already includes the storage, so you stop paying twice.
Frequently Asked
Is my data encrypted before it leaves my computer?
Yes. All files are encrypted on your device before they're ever uploaded. Only you can decrypt them on restore.
Can I restore on a different computer?
Yes — sign in on a new device with the same email and your full backup is available for restore. This is the main thing Duplicati doesn't do well out of the box.
Do you support servers, not just workstations?
Yes. The Pro plan supports unlimited Windows devices including servers.
What happens if I cancel?
Your subscription ends at the close of your current billing period. Your encrypted data stays accessible for restore for 30 days after cancellation, then is permanently deleted.
